Whatcom County has an extraordinary collection of parks featuring lakes, rivers, woods, marshlands, beaches, waterfalls, scenic views, sport facilities, play equipment, historic landmarks as well as hundreds of miles of forested trails. We are truly blessed with outdoor options! There are endless possibilities to enjoy gorgeous days or warm summer evenings. Take a stroll, hop on a bike or pack a picnic and blanket and breath our clean Northwest air.

Whatcom County residents love parks. Bellingham residents love their parks so much that they’ve voted to tax themselves to enhance them, passing two Greenways levies, and hundreds of residents volunteer to help maintain them.

Whatcom County provides the perfect backdrop for family get-togethers and outdoor events. Whether you want to hit the trails with your mountain bike or find the perfect spot for a summer barbecue, local area parks have it all.

In Bellingham, it’s easy to find a playground but it can be hard to choose. Neighborhoods with the most city parks and open space are south of Whatcom Falls Park and downtown, while northern neighborhoods have virtually no city green space.

The Whatcom County Park System as well as the city of Bellingham’s Park & Recreation Department boasts an astounding menu of programs & experiences for all ages and the disabled.
